Motion Sickness! How to handle motion sickness at Disney and on a Cruise

Do you get sick you the simplest of rides, like the Carousel?  Has it been years since you have been on a roller coaster or flown on a plane with out the worry of getting sick?   Well Doug is one of those extreme motion sickness people.  He thought he would never be able to go on a cruise.  He had tried all the over the counter medications and all the "herbal" remedies.  Those may work on the people with slight motion sickness, but for people with profound motion sickness, even the idea of a cruse makes them nauseated.  So how did Doug handle his first Cruise?   He got a prescription patch!

The patch worked great for Doug.  He tested it out before our first cruise to make sure he did not have a bad reaction to it.  When he wore it, he was able to sit in the back seat of a car and read.  He claims to have never read in a moving car before.  Needless to say he was excited!

A few tips:
Ask your doctor if it would be right for you.  You may have a medical condition that prevents you from using it.

It says it last 72 hours, but Doug would say it is more like 68 hours and it takes 4 hours to really start working so you need to plan ahead when changing them.

If wearing them for your flight or a ride at Disney World remember they need up to 4 hours to start working!

When putting them on, wash your hands good then put it on and wash you hands really good again.  Do not touch your eyes or face after putting it on because if you spread the medication to your eyes it can dilate them.  But it can only dilate your eyes if you spread it by touching the patch and then touching your eye.

Drink lots of water.  The patch can dehydrate you!
