Meal Time Monday - Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater

This restaurant has possibly the best theming of any Walt Disney World eatery.
It is the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater and it is located in Disney's Hollywood Studios.   Where else can you eat your meal in a 1950's style drive-in movie theater while enjoying black and white movie clips of some of the 50's best Sci-Fi movies.

Out front of the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater you will find a car just like you will dine in.

Once your name is called you are taken through what looks like the back stage of a movie production. Then you go through a door and you feel like you are back outside at the drive-in to dine under the stars and in front of the silver screen.

At our "car" in the Dine in Theater!
Having the cars as tables keep the kids entertained and they remain excited for what is ahead.  The movie clips sometimes need a little bit of explanation, but kept our kids attention the whole time.  The setup of the tables does make conversation very difficult with any one who is not seated in your row.  Doug got a row to himself behind Clair and I.  It is also very dark and I was glad that I read the menu while we waited to be seated because it could have been a challenge in the dark.  Also we have no picture of our food because it was just bright flashes or too dark.

This is just a few seconds of the type of atmosphere that you find as you dine.

The food here is be pretty good. They have a variety of options and have all the basics covered.  It is not going to earn any awards for its food, but it was all good and we left feeling full and happy.  It is easily the best environment to eat in Disney has to offer.  It can also get tricky to snag a good time to eat, so plan ahead and book early.  You can find times to eat here close to travel dates but you may be eating at 3:30 in the afternoon.

The menu can be found here!

It is one table service credit on the Disney Dinning plan.
Sci-Fi is one restaurant that has an all day menu, so the prices are the same for dinner and lunch making it a better value at dinner time.

To get to Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater you just simply need to go to Disney's Hollywood Studios.   Park admission is required.

Disney Side Party

I had the privilege of hosting a Disney Side Party on Saturday, March 22, 2014. I was selected to be the host of a Disney Side @ Home Celebration! Thanks to MomSelect & Disney Parks for this opportunity!

My theme for the party was classic Mickey & Minnie!

I decorated oreos by dipping them in red melted candy and then adding 2 drops of white melted chocolate to them after the red color was dry.

Disney inspired marshmallows covered in chocolate on a stick! These are my kids' favorite snack at Sweet Spells in Hollywood Studios!

I used the Mickey Mouse cookie cutter that I received in my hostess kit to make these brownies.

Mickey Cupcakes!

Centerpieces

We had several craft stations at the party. This one included decorated a prince/princess crown or showing everyone's Disney Side on a picture frame.

Free Party Favors: Minnie or Mickey Ear Headbands, Disney Fruit Snacks & Disney Stickers.

Cute party favors that Lacey made from The Needle & Thread Embroidery Co

Everyone showed their Disney Side differently. My kids loved wearing their ear hats from Disney World!

Jeannie from AAT, Inc Photography ran the photo booth at the party. This was a big hit for the kids!
Princess Sofia

A little Avengers Action: Spiderman made an appearance!

Jessie!

Family fun for everyone!

Sweet Tinker Bell

These Anna & Elsa costumes were handmade by Lacey @ The Needle & Thread Embroidery Co! They are amazing!

Playing "Do you wanna build a snowman?" by throwing balls into the snowman holes!

Minnie BINGO!

Disney Coloring Area

Disney posted a You Tube Video showing the Animation Academy class at Hollywood Studios on how to draw Olaf. The cast member that instructed this class was also the same one that helped Doug & I create Sulley from Monsters, Inc back in February. He is VERY good at what he does!

Tomorrowland Tuesday - Monster's Inc Laugh Floor

On this addition of Tomorrowland Tuesday, we are going to kick back, relax, and have a laugh at the Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor.
The sign outside the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor.

In this show, you enter the monster world and they try to get your laughs to help power Monstropolis.  The pre-show is funny and they tell you how your jokes can make it into the show its self.  They ask you to text in your favorite jokes and some get selected to be part of the show.

Lots of great detail in the pre show area!

This show is very funny and involves a little bit of audience participation.  The show uses the same technology as Turtle Talk with Crush and it still blows my mind how it works.  The way the show interacts is what makes it so much fun.

Not sure you know any good jokes for the monsters to use?  Well my son Alden made a video of some great jokes to text in and try to get yours used.  There is something exciting about a monster saying your name and home town as part of the show.

This show is great for the afternoon when it is getting hot and crowded outside.  There is FastPass + available but it is not recommended to use.  Usually you just have to wait long enough for the next show and you are being entertained by the MC (Monster of Ceremony) Mike Wazowski.  This is definitely one of my family's must do's in the Magic Kingdom.
