Meal Time Monday - The Hoop Dee Doo Revue

It's time to eat!  When you don't want "just another meal" or are tired of eating with "furry" people it is time to try a dinner show!

Hoop Dee Doo Revue is just the ticket!!  It is an all-you-care-to-eat dinner with a wild west style dinner show.

It is located in Pioneer Hall at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds.

Once you arrive at Pioneer Hall you check in outside.  There was a long line to check in but it moved quick.

The Menu includes fried chicken and ribs and it's served in buckets with lots of sides and "fixin's"  You get Strawberry Short Cake for dessert.   Drinks are also included in the price for beer, wine and sodas.  Another nice perk of this show is that the tax and gratuity is included. So if you are using the dinning plan you can get beer and the tip is already accounted for!

After checking in they get a picture of your group.

Once in side and everyone was seated, the waiter took our drink order and the show started shortly after and then had breaks to eat.

Not sure what this face is about but we were having a good time.

Alden shortly after devouring some cornbread.  He ate like a horse that night and loved every bite.

We were in category two seating so we were off to the side but we still had a great view and felt like we were part of the action.   This picture is of the actors out in the audience.  It was wild, crazy, and even a little "corny".

This is the look of a picky eater when they set down a bowl of salad right in front of her.  (Don't worry though she had plenty to eat.)  She liked the fried chicken and ate enough dessert for two.  The kids had about 3 refills of chocolate milk (it was hot out that day in the parks)

There is a little bit of audience participation.  Clair had a better view from my lap.

We did manage to have someone about 6 ft 7 in right in front of us, but the only one who complained was Doug (but he has a low threshold when it comes to complaining).

Right before dessert was served, I was taken from the audience and escorted back stage.  (One of the actors had come and asked me to participate.) They gave me a part and soon enough I was out on stage doing a can-can dance.  They pulled a total of 4 people up to be part of the production.  Every one did different things at different times on stage.  It was fun and the kids thought it was great that their mom was famous.

Here we are with the actor that picked me to go up.  He picked me because of our Husker Gear!  He was from Bellevue, Nebraska and grew up just minutes from our house!

Summing up the Hoop Dee Doo Revue with one word is hard to do, but I'm going with FUN.  The kids had smiles on their faces the whole time, the food was good, and the atmosphere was great.  It is something that we look forward to doing again and again.

More information on the cost and floor plan can be found HERE.  Hoop Dee Doo Revue is 2 credits on the Disney Dining Plan.

The only draw back of Hoop Dee Doo Revue is its location, as it can be a bit tough to get to. See below with directions:

How to get to Hoop Dee Doo Revue:

The show is located in Pioneer Hall in the "Settlement" part of Fort Wilderness Campground.

It is easiest to reach from the the Magic Kingdom by boat.  There is a boat that will take passengers from the Magic Kingdom to the "Settlement" of Fort Wilderness.

From Epcot, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom you can take a bus.  This bus drops you off at the  "Outpost" or main entrance to Fort Wilderness.  From there you take an internal bus to the "Settlement" and from where the bus drops you off it is just a short walk to Pioneer Hall.

On the internal bus to Hoop Dee Doo Revue

From all other Disney Resorts, you must take a bus to a park and then transfer to a bus to Fort Wilderness. I would recommend busing to the Magic Kingdom and then take the boat to Fort Wilderness. A boat is always more fun then a bus (unless it is raining)!

If you drive your car, you park at the Out Post and then bus to the Settlement.  Parking is hard to find do to other activities at the campgrounds and lots of trucks with trailers are taking up multiple spots.

A map of Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.  Don't think about trying to walk it.

A map that show both Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge.

One last option to get there is to walk from Wilderness Lodge.  Their is a hiking trail that runs along Bay Lake and is about a 1.5 miles.   It would most likely be faster then waiting on a boat or bus if you are already at Wilderness lodge.
