Walt Disney World is full of abbreviations and terms and that can make it challenging to figure out what is going on. So with "Disney Speak" we will work on teaching you the language of Disney one term at a time! This language barrier is a good reason to use a Disney Travel Specialist - such as myself!
Today's Word is: Cast Member
Cast Member is the term Disney uses to describe their employees. This came about because every position at Disney is a "role" not a job. So, when you are told to "talk to the Cast Member by the entrance of space mountain" - they are referring to the person working at the entrance of the line.
You will also be able to recognize Cast Members by their name tags. All the name tags look alike no mater where they are working. You will see as you travel through the parks that all the Cast Members where very different "costumes" or uniforms. They are designed to fit the area they are working. If you are in Frontierland they look like they belong there, but the name tag remains the same!
Teach your kids to look for the name tags to help identify Disney Cast Members just in case they get lost and need to find an adult to help.
If you receive exceptional service from a Cast Member, before you leave the park, stop by Guest Services and leave a comment telling how great they were! Disney and the Cast Members really do appreciate it!
